For as long as I can remember, I have been enthralled by the functions of the mind. As a minor, I found myself engrossed in true crime documentaries and tried to understand what drove people’s decisions and their actions. It was beyond my awareness that my childhood curiosity would develop into a lifelong passion.
Fast-forward to my academic career where I pursued a degree in Criminology with the stream being Psychology. The more I studied and researched, the more I recognised the impact of psychology on our lives. It was evident that there was a correlation between the scientific studies and I was going to explore this connection further.
The pinnacle of determination and hard work resulted in obtaining a coveted Cum Laude distinction. This achievement has encouraged me to further my studies and has strengthened my commitment to better understand the interconnection linking the human brain and the pursuit of justice.
Community involvement has always been close to my heart and my knowledge on community psychology has drastically increased in terms of intervention and different approaches that are utilised to assist individuals in society. The gratification that comes from giving back and contributing to the well-being of others is truly unparalleled. There is profound joy in knowing that my actions make a difference which motivates me to constantly fight against inequalities. Furthermore, giving back to society does not only enhance the lives of those I am helping but also provides me with a sense of belonging and purpose.
The creation of Psych For Change is not just a platform for me to share my passion; it is an opportunity to advocate for change. Through the power of words I intend on educating and encouraging individuals to ultimately contribute to a brighter future.
